Suffering an arrest and being held in custody or receiving a Desk Appearance Ticket (DAT) means that you will now be dealing with the Brooklyn Criminal Court system. The Criminal Court handles a multitude of cases including returns on a warrant, misdemeanors, felonies and DWI violations, not to mention Drug crime and Sex Crime matters. In the case of a misdemeanor violation, the Brooklyn Criminal Court will deal with the matter from the initial Arraignment process through the trial and sentencing phase. In the case of a felony, the court will hear the arraignment and indictment phases. After this, felony cases are transferred to the Supreme Court. Brooklyn Traffic Ticket violations are not handled by this court (if need information for this, click on the link). For information with regard to your specific matter contact a Brooklyn Criminal Lawyer from our office. Moreover, if this matter involves the Federal Court sitting in Brooklyn (the Eastern District) contact a Federal Criminal Lawyer from our office for supplemental information
