There are four degrees of Grand Larceny, which are:
New York Penal Law 155.30-Grand Larceny in the 4th: If the value of the item stolen is between $1,000 to $2,999.99, or the theft involved a religious item, firearm, or public record this section applies. It is considered an E felony.
New York Penal Law 155.35-Grand Larceny in the 3d: This section applies if the value of the items stolen is between $3,000. and $49,999. and is considered D felony.
