If you or someone you know has been placed under arrest or has received a Desk Appearance Ticket, or has been returned on a warrant you may be feeling overwhelmed, and a bit confused. The following will provide you with some useful information regarding the court system, including the court location, hours of operation and directions.
The Queens Criminal Court will hear various types of criminal matters, covering everything from a violation to a misdemeanors and a Felony. The types of cases the court may hear include: DWI, Grand Larceny, a weapon charge or a white collar crime or a criminal charge of driving with a suspended license. Procedurally, all of the New York Criminal Courts will handle a misdemeanor matter from beginning (Arraignment) to end (trial). A Felony will be handled here only pre-indictment, and will then move to the Supreme Court for the duration of the case. If you have received a Queens Traffic Ticket, be advised that these are handled by the local traffic court system (click on the link for more information).
